Visit: Kuranda Koala Gardens, 2-4 Rob Veivers Dr Clifton Beach, Kuranda, Queensland 4881 Australia

Start your self-guided wildlife encounter at Kuranda Koala Gardens.

At the gardens, you’ll get up-close to freshwater crocodiles and have the chance to feed kangaroos and wallabies. Feeding the kangaroos and wallabies is conducted under supervision from the amazing team at the gardens and the animals have the freedom to accept the food you are offering or go and relax ~ being a kangaroo is tough work!. You'll also see the elusive wombats – these sleepy, shy animals are the world's largest burrowing mammals and aren’t often seen in the wild, so don’t miss them! You also have the opportunity to see the rare Greater Bilby, the Northern Bettong, Mahogany Glider and more in the new ‘Nocturnal Wonders’ exhibit.

Duration: 2 hours

Visit: Birdworld Kuranda, Heritage Markets, Kuranda, Queensland 4881 Australia

While at Kuranda Koala Gardens, you’ll receive your ticket for Birdworld, where Australia’s largest flock of free-flying birds awaits! Just a short walking distance from the Koala Gardens, this massive flight aviary is landscaped with water features and rainforest plants, home to more than 80 species of native and rare birds.

Spot cassowaries, increasingly rare in the wild, as well as bowerbirds, parrots, lorikeets, cheeky cockatoos and other Australian birds. You’ll also see international visitors such as South American macaws.

Duration: 2 hours

We went when it was pouring down rain, but still a good experience. We got to feed the kangaroos which was daunting but they’re actually really friendly. Kuranda village also has lots of great things to see and do after.

This area is quite new by the looks. Its very well set up and will hopefully come up great in a few years. Very much setup for overseas tourists regarding koala holding and grabbing those memories photo's. Rest of the park has a few australian native animals which was good. We entered through the Birdworld entrance within the Heritage Markets.

This truly was a worthwhile stopover during my time at Kuranda Village. The park is divided in to three sections (Birdworld, butterfly house and the Australian wildlife park) you can pay for admission for individual parks or get a good discount for paying for all three at the same time. Expect a good welcome from the birds when you entering BirdWorld particularly when your carrying a paperbag full of bird treats. They'll sit on your shoulders, start chatting to you and enthuastically rummage through your bag of treats. The collection of birds is huge consisting of macaws, lorikeets, galahs and other birds that are both native and from afar. By the time I the Australian wildlife section, all the animals were having a good snooze (I'm assuming this is due to it being midday and all). There was still plenty to see with plenty of kangaroos, wallabies and koalas. After the wildlife park, I went to check out the butterfly house. The collection of butterflies was absolutely huge and there's even an opportunity to check out their breeding facilities. The staff at the parks were fantastic, friendly and approachable. Definitely well worth checking out as part of your trip to Kuranda vIllage

Really enjoyed both bird world and Koala Gardens! If you are holding a koala, get there at the beginning of the photo times. Otherwise the wait is long. We were first in line and loved having the opportunity. Also getting there early to feed the wallaby’s and kangaroos is a good idea before it gets to hot. The food is free and they fill up quickly. Make it your first stop in Karunda. They go and enjoy bird world. And purchase the food. It is well worth it. The birds flock to the people with the food bags. Such a neat experience to interact with the colorful birds!

The bird Sanctuary was splendid. There were birds of various species flying around in a wonderful free environment and tons of interaction with many of them. The koala area or zoo was limited.

With only 6 hours between Cairns and an international flight we had to choose carefully to see as much as possible. Kuranda was perfect. They offer different parks such as animals, a bird park, and a butterfly farm. All in one village. We caught the local bus for 6 Oz dollars as a taxi was very expensive. It leaves from central station first bus 06:45. The town sleeps till 10 and the Kaola park opens at 09:00 so we wondered around waiting for 09:00. Unfortunately our return bus had to be the 10am one as the next one was too late for us to catch our flight. In that hour we had a chance to see all the precious furry creatures of Australia. The animals are in excellent condition with spotless enclosures and consideration for the nocturnal creatures kept in the perfect environment. They have a lovely shop to walk through and don’t miss the famous old aero plane outside! Sadly the man who sells the tickets is super grumpy and most unobliging, however we met MARK inside who went the extra mile to make sure we saw everything and got our precious photo and cuddle. Him and the photographer went beyond our expectations to create a memory of lifetime. THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS. There are cubes to feed the little wallabies which was also very special. A highlight of our trip

Both Koala Garden and Birdworld were very small wildlife parks. You will only need an hour or so to visit both. We particularly liked the Birdworld. My daughter had a lovely time feeding and interacting with lots of birds.

If you come here to pet wildlife and get a photo shoot with a Koala, then it might be worth going - Otherwise.... just dont. This is a terrible place, where everything is constructed to try and rip you off for every penny and the attractions seems in bad condition and not much care is taken for animals nor for visitors. For us this was one of the worst experiences overall in visiting Australia. It is really not a nice place :( The only nice part is the butterfly area, which actually is kind of cool.
